Francois Brassard
(ECHL Goaltender of the year 2022)

"Not many modern goaltending coaches understand the game and the needs of a goalie like Matt. He has been a big part of my success personally by making me reflect on my work habits and technique and to help me apply those details into game situations. Matt sees the complex position of goaltending with a simplified approach which helped dial down my excessive movements and eliminate the overthinking from my game, which led to building the necessary confidence to take me to the next level."

Mark Grametbauer
CHOLET (FRANCE2)

"Matt is very driven and passionate about goaltending. He is unbelievable at communicating and making sure you understand what the reasons are for practicing that particular drill/skill. Definitely one of the hardest workers on and off the ice, as he likes to spread his knowledge of the game and help anyone at any level of their craft."

Collin Mackenzie

RIT Tigers (NCAA)

"Jenks has played a huge role in my development and preparing me for the next level. After my first summer working with him, I posted my career-best and league-best GAA and SV% in the OHL. He creates a game-like environment ini his goalie sessions which translates extremely well to actual games. He also breaks down the technical side off thing on the ice and through video, which makes me as efficient as possible with all my movements. He focuses on the details, which can really separate good goalies from great goalies."

Hi, I’m Coach Jenks!

My approach to goaltending development is rooted in a people-first philosophy. Whether you’re six or sixty, building a strong coach-athlete connection is at the heart of effective growth. By taking the time to understand each athlete’s unique perspective, background, and learning style, we can work together to find the most effective and individualized path to improvement.

Every goaltender has their own style, and I believe that should be celebrated—not coached out of them. While there are foundational techniques that apply across the board, there are always multiple ways to succeed depending on a goalie’s speed, size, skill set, and instincts. My goal is to help each athlete define their personal style of play and then tailor our training to enhance it.

The first priority in any development plan is creating the right learning environment—one that fosters confidence, curiosity, and adaptability. From there, we build a customized roadmap based on your strengths, challenges, and long-term goals.

Goaltending is unpredictable by nature. The game moves fast, and success often comes down to your ability to read, react, and adapt under pressure. That’s why I emphasize training in dynamic, game-relevant situations—handling traffic, reading options, and staying composed in chaos. By simulating real-game conditions, we can sharpen your goalie IQ, elevate your focus, and prepare you to thrive in the most demanding moments.

Every goalie has a distinct style, and I want that to shine through. There are some core concepts that are going to be integral, but in most instances, there's multiple ways to get the job done based on speed, skill level, size, or any other physical attributes.

The aim is to first develop the learning atmosphere, then build a plan based around what your strengths and weak points are as a goaltender. By defining what your specific style of play is, we can dive deeper into how to emphasize it and make it work best for you.

We practice in uncertain conditions - hockey happens fast, and you need to be able to adapt. Reading options, taking contact and dealing with traffic are all integral parts of the game that need to be practiced. Very rarely will you know exactly where or when the next shot is coming. By practicing in these conditions, we sharpen the Goalie IQ and amplify your focus level and attention to details in order to succeed.
